Lorenzo comes to the ACCESS Springfield Promise Program with a deep passion for positive social change and youth empowerment stemming from his own personal experiences.

Raised by a single mother who dropped out of high school, Lorenzo navigated obstacles including homelessness, poverty, and dropping out of high school himself to attain a GED, a Bachelor’s degree from Hampshire College, and a Master’s degree in Fine Arts from Columbia University.  He has worked directly with Springfield youth as the director of a summer program and a teacher at the High School of Commerce.  He has been recognized for his civic engagement by Governor Deval Patrick and Representative Benjamin Swan and was honored in 2007 by the Key Players Project for being a positive role model for young people.
