Summit of Thought Leaders Provides Insight Into College Access and Strategy

On March 14, 2008, ACCESS convened a meeting with seven leading national and local experts to capture national best practices and lessons learned from the field as part of a strategy formulation process.  The event included a roundtable discussion led by the thought leaders that focused on trends in college access, and a strategy session with the ACCESS Strategic Planning Committee and key funders.

The questions considered by the experts included:
  • Are there examples of cooperation and collaboration among organizations to address the continuum of college access needs that should inform ACCESS’s approach?
  • What models for sharing data as students transition levels of education (e.g. middle school to high school, high school to postsecondary) exist?
  • What measures and tools might ACCESS consider in order to assess impact?

The perspective of the thought leaders who convened provided ACCESS with the latest research on college access programming and input on emerging choices connected to ACCESS’s growth strategy.  We would like to share these findings with you, so that you may also gain insight into the college access landscape and ways ACCESS may expand to more fully meet college access needs.  Be sure to consult the reading list for additional resources on topics of particular interest to you.  If you have questions or comments, feel free to contact us and continue the discussion!
