ACCESS Featured in March 8th Boston Globe Editorial ACCESS was featured in a March 8th Boston Globe editorial, "Unsung options for college aid," which discussed what local nonprofits and schools are doing to improve access to higher education. In the editorial, ACCESS Executive Director Bob Giannino-Racine says that higher education is a "pretty compelling solution to poverty." He also challenges Massachusetts to give the same attention to access to college as it did to health insurance. The editorial urges the state to increase need-based aid grants and fund dual-enrollment programs that allow high school students to earn college credits. It also suggests that the state might create a financial aid endowment, calling for and matching private contributions. The editorial concludes, "More students deserve the chance to walk across the college graduation stage." Read the article here. |
